I'm not a huge video fan. I'm not too fond of TikTok; I find it a time-waster, and I can't understand its vast appeal, but each to their own. YouTube, on the other hand, I've found useful. When I'm struggling with learning or fixing something, I seek out YouTube. There are oodles of videos on writing and marketing. Here are my top ten favorite presenters on YouTube:
The Nine Things Every Writer Should Know. Bookfox Video. (John offer’s a series of online classes that are also great. I enrolled in a couple of them early in my writing career and loved them, How to Write Splendid Sentences and the Triangle Method to Character Development are two that I highly recommend. )
My Top 12 Writing Tips. Shaelin Writes.
How to Increase Engagement. Mark Dawson.
How to Write Fantasy. Jenna Moreci. (I find all of her video’s extremely entertaining, as well as informative. You won’t be bored.)
Write Main Characters. Michael La Ronn.
The Key to Great Storytelling. Diane Callahan.
Choosing the Right POV for Your Novel. Alexa Donne.
How to Sell More Books and Effortlessly Attract Loyal Readers. Abbie Emmons. (Watchable and Approachable presenter, ignore the last part where she wants to sell you her class, unless you want to of course.)
Simple Steps to Outline Your Book. The Write Practice. This one is definitely worth your while.
One Writing Exercise That Changed Everything. Story Grid. This one is somewhat like Alexa Donne, but I’m a slow learner : )
If you have a favorite channel or video you’ve watched on writing that you’ve enjoyed, please share:

I will publish an article on July 2. After that, I'm taking a mini-vacation for two weeks, from July 8 - 22, and I won't be publishing during this time. I will return with a publication on July 24, which marks my second anniversary of publishing on substack. We can celebrate then.
This is a great resource! Thank you for putting it together. I also really like Sarra Cannon's Heartbreathings channel. She has some really great videos about editing your novel and how to create a series bible.
Oh, thank you Heather for mentioning that one. I've been looking for some info about setting a series bible up.
