Thanks for your comments, Kay. If someone could actually take one of MY books and make me a "USA TODAY Best-Selling Author," I'm sure it would be worth the $6,000. However, the Leaders Press authors apparently earn NOTHING for their contributions to the anthology, and simply get the "Best-Selling Author" title for publicity purposes. I cannot afford to stroke my ego and vanity in that fashion!
I have spoken with other publicity/marketing "experts." NONE were able to answer my overwhelming question: "where is the market for [whichever] book?" ALL seemed to talk vaguely about various ideas -- new covers and website, blends of Amazon and Facebook ads, "stacked" promotions, and then the usual (build an email list, run contests and cross-promotions, etc.). Bottom line: all seemed highly questionable.

I should probably mention that some while ago someone forwarded an email to me. The gist of the message was that the recipient could "become a USA TODAY Best-Selling Author." Yeah, I am so sick of hearing basically, the same things over and over. The things suggested to market your books do work, but it takes doing many of them, multiple times to actually make a profit and you have to have multiple books to do it. The competition is intense since 2012 when some authors started so their experience might be a different one as they have built a loyal following. Things like keywords also have to be changed multiple times, as often as every few weeks or months. It gets to the points of ridiculousness. There are only so many hours in a day for some of this. There are always people out here looking to make money off of desperate authors…we have created entire industries.
I've never heard of them, but perhaps one of the other readers have. It is surprising the number of companies out here.
