I'm not too interested in spending money on BookBub -- at least not with my most recent publications; maybe with the next one? -- but I absolutely LOVED your interview on Shepherd.com (and also the recommendations). By the way: I agree with you about both the Stetson and Fowles works! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Lenny, Yes, I can understand not wishing to spend money on BookBub. You need a reason and a set goal. I'm glad you enjoyed the interview, you might consider being a guest author, Ben Fox likes Indie authors. You might consider it.
Actually, if that particular work (THE IBBUR'S TALE) were a full-blown novel, rather than a novella, I might indeed try it on BookBub. I also wrote a four-novel series (published 2022-23), which (mea culpa) is cross-genre (actually cross-genres). I have since learned that "unknown" authors are strongly discouraged from crossing too many lines.
Meanwhile, I have been uploading the first novel of that set here on substack...
Great information and lots of food for thought. I agree, if we don’t discount the book, it’s a hard sell. Lately, I’ve noticed the price tags at small publishers are increasing.
This is why I worked at an digital advertising agency for a year. I wanted to learn the ins and outs of marketing my own stuff! Sheesh, what a learning curve!

Believe it or not, Kay: https://shepherd.com/best-books/jewish-paranormal-literature. It first ran just a few weeks ago. I enjoyed working with Ben, and I'll be involved with the site again in near future.

Yes, prices are increasing and so is discounting! Crazy!
Wow! I bet you learned a bunch doing that!
